Artist Statement

Light of Yoga

In 2006 Reed Stuart Rahn created Light of Yoga a deeply personal exploration of form, spirit, and inner peace. At the time, galleries resisted the work, dismissing male nude photography as difficult to sell. Disheartened, Reed set the series aside but now, in a more open and conscious world, he is proud to share it once again.

This body of work is the result of seven months of focused self exploration. Using mirrors, a 20 second camera timer, and dramatic lighting, he captured abstract forms of his body in motion and stillness. The images are not of this world; they are expressions of the energy, soul, and sacred geometry of the human form. Each photograph is an invitation for the viewer to pause, breathe, and return to their truest self.

As a yoga instructor of over 23 years and a photographer for nearly five decades, Reed see’s the body as a biological masterpiece alive with energy, beauty, and divine intelligence. Light of Yoga is a visual meditation on unity, presence, and the timeless connection between body and spirit.

With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Brooks Institute Of Photography in 1984, his career has spanned in commercial photography, global travel, and cover of Time Magazine, and stories of prestigious magazines like National Geographic and a hundred more. Today, he is achieving his lifelong goal of becoming a professor of fine art photography, this work represents a return to purpose, to peace, and to sharing what truly matters. Reed looks forward to signing your personal limited edition print, Thank You.
